The Coalition for Safe Schools is part of the CVES - Safe Schools/Healthy Students project known as Communities of One. It is a team of educators and community partners consisting of law enforcement, juvenile justice, mental health, alcohol and substance abuse prevention, and emergency management services. All partners are dedicated to effectively and consistently addressing school safety issues in Clinton and Essex Counties.
The Coalition for Safe Schools has developed a school safety Action Plan. The Plan is designed to provide important information regarding program and service offerings which are in place throughout the two Counties. These resources are committed to reducing safety risk factors and to promoting the social development and emotional health of students, their families, and the greater community.
The Plan also serves as a reference for crisis mitigation, safety planning, emergency response procedures, and the aftermath recovery period. The Plan is invaluable in that it contains current directories which list contact information within our school-community networks.
In addition, the Safe Schools/Healthy Students project is sponsoring the Taskforce Against Bullying. The taskforce will provide a forum to address topics related to bullying. Participants will: define bullying and cyber bullying, explore effective bullying prevention strategies, and discuss growing legal responsibilities as they relate to local, state, and federal antibullying laws. The Task Force designed a school district anti-bullying policy template that is available to all schools in Clinton and Essex Counties.
Please join us in making safer schools and safer communities!
