Saranac Elementary School & Saranac Middle School Honored for Federal Participation
The Safe Schools/Healthy Students project is part of a federal initiative which is highly competitive. Schools who participate nationwide are expected to assist with data collection on the federal level. One way schools are expected to participate is on the School Climate Survey.
School professionals are selected by the National Evaluation Team to complete this online survey. The survey collects data on school climate nationwide. Data helps to identify programs and services that make our schools a positive place for our children to go and learn.
Congratulations to Saranac Elementary School and Saranac Middle School! 100% of staff selected completed this year’s national survey! We are very proud of our school staff at Saranac Elementary & Middle School and thank them for their efforts to make our students safe and healthy!!
Working Together, Building Positive Relationships
Mrs. Napper’s fourth graders are focusing on connection this year. Connecting with their school, their teacher, their family, and their fellow students is a priority in this classroom. It is all a part of Applied Control Theory which teaches us that we all do better when we have good, supportive relationships with each other. The fourth graders worked with their teacher to identify what a fabulous student would “look like” in their classroom.
The students created their own pledge; listing all the characteristics they thought a fabulous student should have. The students even pledged to give their teacher “five” to show they all work together to create a happy, safe classroom for all. The students sealed the deal by signing their pledge. To assist students in communicating, they also used a large camera to give clear pictures of what their hopes and dreams were. Hats off to Mrs. Napper and her fourth grade students!
